Tylö® Saunas
Traditional Saunas
A traditional sauna gives you the classic sweat. It heats stones you ladle water over for a soft burst of steam, called löyly, and runs hot for a deep, authentic session. Tylö makes the indoor Reflection and Halmstad and the weather-ready outdoor Luleå.

What Makes a Traditional Sauna Different
A traditional sauna is the original design. A stone-topped heater runs hot, and a ladle of water over the rocks sends a soft rush of steam through the room. It gives the deepest, most authentic sweat, and many people prefer it to anything else.
Tylö makes it in three lines. The Reflection is the design-forward indoor flagship, made for a living space. The Halmstad is the warm, cedar-lined indoor classic in a range of sizes. The Luleå is an outdoor sauna built for a Northwest winter, so you can use it with snow on the ground.

Traditional Sauna FAQ
How hot does a traditional sauna get?
A traditional Tylö runs roughly 180 to 200 degrees, which is the temperature that gives you the classic, deep sweat. Sessions are usually shorter than an infrared session, and you build up your time as you get used to it.
Can I put a traditional sauna outside?
Yes, if it is built for it. The Luleå is Tylö’s weather-ready outdoor sauna, made to live in the backyard through a Northwest winter. The Reflection and Halmstad are designed for indoors. Never put an indoor-rated cabin outside.
Do I need special wiring?
Usually yes. Traditional heaters draw more power than a small infrared cabin, so most need a dedicated circuit installed by an electrician. We tell you exactly what a given model needs before you buy.
