FROG® @ease® is the water care system on every plug-and-play spa we sell: Hot Spring’s Freeflow® collection and Caldera’s Fantasy® collection.
How FROG® @ease® Works
The system pairs two pre-filled cartridges. One releases sanitizing minerals that help keep the water clean and comfortable. The other is a SmartChlor® chlorine cartridge that self-regulates, releasing chlorine as the water actually needs it rather than all at once.
The self-regulation is what makes the difference. When you add chlorine by hand, the level spikes after each dose and fades until the next one. With SmartChlor, the level stays steady day after day, and your routine shrinks to swapping cartridges when they run out and checking the water occasionally.
There is nothing to pour, nothing to measure, and no shelf of chemical bottles to keep stocked, which fits a spa you fill from a garden hose and plug into a standard outlet.
Which Spas Use FROG® @ease®
FROG® @ease® is the water care for the plug-and-play lines we carry: the Hot Spring® Freeflow® collection and the Caldera® Fantasy® collection. Both are built around it, and it is a big part of why they stay so affordable to own.
Full-size Hot Spring and Caldera spas use the FreshWater® Salt System instead, which makes its own chlorine from dissolved salt. The two systems work differently, but they share the same goal of having the spa do the work instead of you.

Here are answers to the questions we hear most about FROG water care. The Learning Center covers each one in depth.
Is FROG @ease as good as the salt system?
They are different systems for different spas. The salt system is the premium experience on full-size Hot Spring® and Caldera® models, and FROG® @ease® is the simplest possible routine for a plug-and-play spa. Both keep the water clean and both ask very little of you, so the real choice is which spa fits your space, your budget, and how you plan to use it.
How much work is it, really?
Swap the cartridges when they run out, rinse the filter on a normal schedule, and check the water occasionally with a test strip. There is no daily dosing and no measuring. We will show you the whole routine before the spa ever leaves the showroom.
Can I switch a plug-and-play spa to salt water care?
Freeflow® and Fantasy® spas are built around the FROG® cartridge system rather than the salt system. It is the simplest routine going, and a great fit for a first spa. If soft salt water is what you are after, we will point you to the salt-ready models.
