Water Testing

Where can I get my hot tub water tested?

Hot tub water testing is free at every Hot Tubs Northwest showroom: Burlington, Ferndale, and Lake Stevens. Bring a water sample from your spa, and we will test it and go over the results with you. No appointment needed, no purchase needed, and it does not matter where you bought your hot tub.

How Free Water Testing Works

Three steps, and the longest one is the drive.

1. Bring us a sample

Fill a small, clean container with water from your spa and bring it to any showroom during open hours.

2. We test it

Our team tests the sample and reads the results with you: sanitizer, pH, alkalinity, and what they mean for your water.

3. Leave with a plan

You walk out knowing what your spa needs and in what order. If it needs products, we carry them; if it just needs time or a drain, we will say so.

Why Test Hot Tub Water?

Balanced water feels better on your skin, protects your spa's heater and shell, and keeps sanitizer working the way it should. Unbalanced water is the root of most hot tub complaints: cloudiness, odor, itchy skin, and short equipment life.

How often should water be tested?

A quick home test about every ten days works for most spas on a salt system, plus a showroom test whenever something seems off or after a refill. Our water care guide covers the routine.

Want less testing altogether?

The FreshWater® Salt System keeps water clean for up to a year, and FreshWater® IQ tests the water for you every hour and tells you what it needs. Read about salt and FreshWater IQ.

What our customers say

Recent five-star Google reviews about walking in with water questions.

“We bought an inflatable spa for my husband a couple of years ago and finally got around to setting it up over Memorial Day weekend. One thing we didn’t think about was needing to properly balance chemicals, so we quickly realized we were in over our heads. We searched for the closest hot tub retail store and found Hot Tubs Northwest.…”

They took the time to answer all of our questions about maintenance, water care, and chemicals, making sure we felt comfortable and confident with our new hot tub.…”

How much does hot tub water testing cost?

Nothing. Water testing is free at all three Hot Tubs Northwest showrooms, with no appointment and no purchase required.

Yes. Bring a sample from any brand of hot tub or swim spa and we will test it and go over the results with you.

How much water do I need to bring?

A small, clean container is plenty. Scoop from below the surface rather than right at the top, and bring it in the same day for the truest reading.

How often should hot tub water be tested?

A quick test about every ten days works for most spas on a salt system, plus a check whenever the water looks or smells off, or after a drain and refill.
